Jazz Night – All Blues

With its roots entrenched deep in American history, the blues is an essential piece of the jazz vernacular. All selections will be tethered to that iconic sound, cleverly framed with jazz stylings, simply associated with the hue. The ISU Jazz Combos will lead with tunes from modernist Robert Glasper, soulful tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, third stream piano master Bill Evans, and others. Jazz 2.0 will play charts by emerging Canadian jazz artist Christine Jensen, decorated writer/arranger Don Sebesky, Basie-band veteran Frank Foster, and an original from the director himself. Join us for a concert that ushers in the holiday season.

The show starts @ 7:30 in the Martha-Ellen Tye recital hall with a $5 admission charge.
