Ready to Run Iowa Workshop

Ready to Run® Iowa is a nonpartisan campaign training program to encourage women to run for elective office, position themselves for appointive office, work on a campaign or become involved in public life as leaders in their communities. Since 2007, the Catt Center has offered the Ready to Run® Iowa program every other year as part of a national network founded by the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University.

The registration fee is $25 per workshop, which covers parking pass, lunch and light refreshments.

Registration is required; space is limited. No refunds; substitutions welcome.

Lodging: The Radisson Hotel Ames Conference Center at ISU is offering Ready to Run attendees a discounted rate of $97 for those staying the night of March 28 and checking out March 29.

Book online using this link; the discount will automatically appear. Or call their front desk (515) 268-8808 and tell them you’re with Ready to Run and would like the discount.

Lactation locations: The Memorial Union offers lactation space in their Pride Lounge, located on the 2nd floor. A key for the space can be reserved at the Information Desk at the east end of the hallway. Also available are family/gender neutral restrooms on the 2nd floor located across from the Information Desk and in the back hallway of the Multicultural Center near the elevator and parking ramp.

The Ready to Run Iowa Advisory Board consists of nine members with expertise in Iowa politics who provide input on the speakers, content and format for the workshops. Advisory Board members are: Amy Campbell, a partner at the Advocacy Cooperative; Blake Hanson, an attorney at Crawford and Mauro in Des Moines; Drew Kamp, director of Story County community outreach and government relations for the Ames Chamber of Commerce and Economic Development Commission; Paula Martinez, labor leader and member of the Warren County Democrats Central Committee; Gloria Mazza, president of the Iowa Federation of Republican Women; Kellie Paschke, an attorney with Skinner and Paschke of Waukee, Iowa; Kim Reem, 4th vice president of the National Federation of Republican Women; Georgia Van Gundy, executive director of the Iowa Business Council; and Andrea Woodard, public policy manager at the Greater Des Moines Partnership.
