Learn how trust and credibility play a role in communicating controversial science topics June 7-9 at the 6th Biennial Science Communication Summer Symposium. This symposium builds on Iowa State University’s expertise in science communication by bringing together local and national scholars to explore the intersection of scientific credibility and public acceptance of scientific claims.

By drawing upon scholars in multiple disciplines, this symposium opens an interdisciplinary conversation bridging diverse literature to better address this communication challenge. The event is open to everyone.

The event will take place in Ames, Iowa. The cost is $45 for ISU participants and $95 for non-ISU participants.

– June 7, 6-8 p.m., Campanile Room, Memorial Union: Opening reception and registration

– June 8, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Morrill Hall: Various sessions, keynote speaker, reception

– June 9, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m., Morrill Hall: Sessions throughout the day. A dinner will follow the closing session from 6-8 p.m.

This symposium is organized by SciComm@ISU, the Science Communication Project. The goal of SciComm@ISU is to enhance collaborative research on, education for, and the practice of public science communication, broadly conceived. Joining with partners across campus to work on particular projects, we hold monthly internal colloquia, organize an annual lecture by an invited scholar or practitioner, offer science communication workshops, match communication interns with hosts, and support the science communication aspects of funded STEM projects.
